Before being elected Mayor in November 2025, Shane served as Lago Vista City Councilman, Place 1, from 2023 to 2025. During his time on Council, he became known for his willingness to ask hard questions, challenge unnecessary spending, and advocate for policies that prioritize residents over bureaucracy. His leadership is grounded in the belief that local government works best when citizens are informed, engaged, and empowered.
Shane brings extensive state and federal government experience to his role as Mayor. He has worked for the Governor of Texas, the Texas Senate, the Texas House of Representatives, the Texas Veterans Commission, and the U.S. Treasury Department. While working for the Governor of Texas, Shane managed the Texas Enterprise Fund, a grant program that helped attract and retain businesses committed to creating thousands of jobs and investing hundreds of millions of dollars across the state. He has spent over a decade working in and around the Texas Legislature and state agencies, giving him a deep understanding of how local, state, and federal policies intersect.
In addition to public service, Shane has been active in entrepreneurship and community leadership. He founded ATX Plays, a sports and social league that raised awareness and support for more than 25 nonprofit organizations and was recognized as one of Austin’s most unique businesses. He has also served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate in Travis County, worked with the Austin Young Chamber’s Leadership Services Committee, volunteered as a voter registrar, and supported organizations including the Arc of Texas.

He has served on the City of Lago Vista Economic Development Advisory Board and as an elected board member at the Island on Lake Travis Condominium Association. His approach to leadership is shaped by a belief in service, accountability, and the importance of decisions being made as close to the community as possible.
